Somatic Therapy in Denver

Does it feel like you’re disconnected from your body?

Maybe you…

  • Crave a deeper relationship with your partner, family, or friends, but aren’t sure how to get there

  • Had a traumatic experience and haven’t felt the same ever since

  • Struggle to connect to what your body is feeling

  • Have patterns you can’t break out of no matter what you try

Somatic therapy can help you let go of past wounds & live a more authentic life.

  • Trauma happens so fast that our bodies aren’t able to take it all in or respond with our thinking brains. Somatic therapy for trauma helps you slow down and incorporate all of the ingredients of an experience to work with memories that are stored in the body.

It works from the understanding that for any experience that you’ve been through, your body was with you and remembers it, even if your brain doesn’t have a memory of what happened.

In somatic therapy, we will draw upon your sensations, body impulses, movements, emotions, memories, images and thoughts to explore your current experiences and create alternate ones so that you don’t have to feel stuck in the past.

  • We will use anything from items in the room, our relationship, our physical proximity, and our bodies to experiment and explore your current patterns. We may role play difficult conversations, try out new postures, experiment with different ways of taking up space to help you create new beliefs and patterns that better serve you and your relationships.

We will explore the whole range of your experience, from emotions, images, thoughts, memories, body sensations and impulses, and your five senses. We will help you learn how to listen to body and stay with emotions and uncomfortable feelings so that you can move through them completely, rather than keeping them stuck.

  • Somatic therapy can be powerful in a number of ways:

Gain more information: By tuning into our bodies in somatic therapy, we are accessing a wealth of information and intuition that we don’t have access to when we don’t pay attention to our bodies.

Be more present: By getting more in touch with the moment-to-moment experience of bodies, we’re able to stay more present and grounded.

Improve self-regulation: In somatic therapy you can develop resources that use your body to keep you calm in anxiety-provoking or triggering situations.

Feel less distress: By fully processing traumatic memories, somatic therapy can help remove the agitation and charge you feel when you’re reminded of your trauma.

Together, we will work on:

01 — Building Resources

We’ll help you create ways you can keep yourself calm when your trauma comes up and help you build tolerance for uncomfortable feelings.

02 — Processing Memories and Beliefs

We’ll help you fully process hard memories and beliefs that are painful and holding you back in life.

03 — Forming New Ways of Being

Once you’ve processed old memories and released them from your body, there’s space to explore new ways of living and create new beliefs about yourself and the world.
